![]() PS: a lot of people abuse of clutch kicking and stupid cuts (and use low details to better see some corners), that's the real problem with leaderboards, imho, not using some assists.Hi all. ![]() ![]() That said, damage doesn't count at all, since usually the best times are always set in time attack, and there's no damage there. Keeping it on at whatever % you like imho is only useful if you're using a keyboard, if you're using a gamepad, or a wheel that works in the game, you shouldn't be using it at all. In fact it's the opposite, if you wanna go faster you should disable it completely (or use it from 50% or below). It may help you keep the car on track in some spots but that's it. The stability assist gives you massive understeer mid corner so no, keeping it at 100% is not "cheating" at all. I would even say that increasing the value of stability assist in aor actually makes you slower, because the cars become more stiff and less responsive than when stability assist is at 0%. I don't know how it is in RBR, but CMR and Dirt games have way more options to tune the cars - more in both sophistication and amount. And because all the cars provide a unique experience, these options allow you to have a somewhat similar experience with most cars without having to completely change your driving style. So in other words in art of rally stability assist, counter-steer factor and ABS in gameplay options are a way to tune the handling of the cars to suit your driving style. In that case the gamepad does the "assisting" instead. With a gamepad which allows me to use analog steering and throttle I could probably completely disable steering assist. I play with a keyboard and if I don't keep stability assist at 100% the cars become uncontrollable wild beasts. They won't actually make your car go faster. Gameplay options in art of rally could make you "faster" in the sense that with the right settings it would be easier for you to keep the car stable and therefore you'll be able to accelerate better. I assume that by "assists" you mean all the settings in gameplay options. I just get the nagging feeling everyone and their aunt is cranking up those assists just to get a better time on the stage and my time looks the worse for it ) The physics are probably the best I have come across in any top down racer I have played and I really enjoy driving these cars. I am not implying I am a very good driver here, this happened a couple of hundred times to me while playing Richard Burns Rally.ĭon't get me wrong I really love this game. ![]() I turned this to zero and still did not manage once to lock the brakes and drive the car straight into the trees. I don't know how the damage over time from just driving is affected on higher difficulty settings, but I think those things seriously stand in the way of comparing different race times.Īnother thing I noticed is that ABS does not seem to make much of a difference. I tried some daily events and it seems very hard to do any damage to the car during these events. Maybe there could be a separate leaderboard for those players?Īnother problem is that the damage to the cars is a lot higher on higher difficulty settings. I mean to each their own, everyone should enjoy the game however they please, but I really don't think those times are comparable to someone driving without assists. Maybe it's just me, but I think turning on driving assists in a Rally car is a lot like cheating. Does the game differentiate at all, what kind of assistance/difficulty settings have been chosen to make times comparable on the leaderboards?
